Victoria Gerrard Chaney was a judge for Division 1 of the California 2nd District Court of Appeal. She assumed office on July 1, 2009. She left office on July 15, 2024.

Chaney ran for re-election for the Division 1 judge of the California 2nd District Court of Appeal. She won in the retention election on November 6, 2018.

She was nominated to the court by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Education

Chaney graduated with a degree in nursing from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1967. She worked as a nurse before attending Loyola-Marymount School of Law, where she graduated with a J.D. in 1977.[1][2][3]

Career

Chaney began her legal career as an associate with the firm of Dryden Harrington and Swartz. She was an assistant Los Angeles City attorney for 11 years until Governor George Deukmejian appointed her to the Los Angeles Municipal Court. In 1994, she was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court, where she presided until her appointment to the appellate court in 2009.[1]
