Eugene Premo
Eugene M. Premo was an associate justice on the Sixth District of the California Courts of Appeal. He served from 1988 to 2021. Premo was appointed to this position by Governor George Deukmejian and took the oath of office on September 29, 1988.[1][2] He successfully ran for retention in 2014.[3] Premo retired on January 15, 2021.[4]
Education
Premo received an undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University in 1957. He received a J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1962.[1]
Military service
Premo served in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps as a first lieutenant until 1959, when he was honorably discharged.[1]
Career
Premo began his legal career as a research attorney for the First District Court of Appeal. A year later, he began working as a private practice lawyer in Santa Clara. He eventually moved his practice to San Jose, where he worked until September of 1969, when he was appointed to the Santa Clara Municipal Court. He was elevated to the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in December of 1974 and he served on that court until his appointment to the appellate court.[1]
