John C. Egan (New York)
John C. Egan was a judge for the 3rd Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. He assumed office in 2010. He left office on August 8, 2025.
Education
Egan received his undergraduate degree from Bryant College in 1976 and his J.D. degree from the Albany Law School in 1980.[1]
Career
Egan began his legal career in 1981 as a private practice lawyer. He worked in this capacity until 1996. During this time, he also served as an assistant corporation counsel for Albany, New York, and as a part-time law clerk at the Albany County Surrogate's Court. Egan was elected to the Albany City Court in 1996. In 2005, he was elected to the New York Supreme Court 3rd Judicial District, where he served until his appointment to the Appellate Division in 2010.[1]
