Maria E. Stratton is the presiding justice on the California Second District Court of Appeal, presiding over Division Eight in Los Angeles. Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Stratton to replace Justice Madeleine Flier on July 24, 2018, and she was confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments on August 23, 2018.[1][2]
Stratton was a judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California from 2005 to 2018. She was appointed in December 2005 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.[3][4]

Stratton received a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law[5]
