William Steckler

William Elwood Steckler (1913-1995) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.[1]

Steckler was nominated by President Harry Truman on February 14, 1950, to a seat vacated by Robert Baltzell; he was confirmed by the Senate on April 4, 1950, and received commission on April 7, 1950. From 1954-1982, he served as the chief judge. He assumed senior status on December 31, 1986. He served the Southern District of Indiana until his death on March 8, 1995.[1] Steckler was succeeded in this position by Larry McKinney.
