James Robert Martin, Jr.
James Robert Martin, Jr (1909-1984) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. He joined the court in 1961 after being nominated by President John F. Kennedy.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
District of South Carolina
Martin was nominated to the Western and Eastern District of South Carolina by President John F. Kennedy on August 30, 1961, to a newly created seat; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 8, 1961, and received commission on September 18; served as chief judge, 1962-1965. He served the Western and Eastern District of South Carolina until November 1, 1965, due to his assignment to another court.[1]
Martin was reassigned November 1, 1965; Served as chief judge, 1965-1979; assumed senior status on November 30, 1979; his service was terminated on November 14, 1984, due to his death.
