William Cook Hanson (1909-1995) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa.

Hanson was nominated simultaneously to both courts by President John F. Kennedy on June 23, 1962, to a new seat created by 75 Stat. 80; he was confirmed by the Senate on July 13, 1962, and received his commission on July 23rd. He served as chief judge of the Southern District from 1971-1977. He assumed senior status on August 15, 1977, and continued to serve both courts in that capacity until his death on June 6, 1995. Hanson was succeeded in this position by Donald O'Brien.
