Charles A. Davis was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 41 of the Florida House of Representatives.

Davis was a judge for the Florida Second District Court of Appeal. He was appointed to the court by former Governor Jeb Bush in 1999 and was retained by voters in 2000, 2006 and 2012.[1][2][3][4] His current term would have expired in January 2019, but Davis retired from the bench on February 27, 2015.[5][6]

Education

Davis received his undergraduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene College in 1970. He earned his master's degree from the University of Cincinnati the following year. He worked as a public school teacher from 1971 to 1973. In 1975, Davis received his J.D. from the University of Florida.[1]

Career

Following law school, Davis worked in private practice in Winter Haven, Florida. He was elected to the Winter Haven City Commission in 1976 and was elected mayor in 1978. In 1980, he ended his private practice and became an assistant public defender for the Tenth Judicial Circuit in Polk County. Two years later, Davis became a judge for the first time with his election to the Polk County Court. He then became a circuit judge for the Tenth Circuit Court in 1984 and became the chief judge of this court in 1995. He held this position until his appointment to the Florida Second District Court of Appeal in 1999.[1]
