The United States Circuit Court for the Northern District of Mississippi was created on February 6, 1889. It served as an appeals court over the District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, which since its inception in 1838, had been given the same jurisdiction as circuit courts normally held. This circuit court remained in existence until the circuit court system was totally dissolved on March 3, 1911.[1]
