L. Paige Marvel is an Article I federal judge on senior status for the United States Tax Court. She joined the court in 1998 after a nomination from President Bill Clinton (D).[1] On December 3, 2014, Marvel began a second 15-year term on the court after being appointed by President Barack Obama (D). She assumed senior status on December 6, 2019.[2]
Marvel served as chief judge from June 1, 2016, to May 31, 2018.[3][1]
Education
Marvel earned a B.A. graduating magna cum laude in 1971 from the College of Notre Dame and earned a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law three years later.

Marvel was nominated to the United States Tax Court by President Bill Clinton (D) and was confirmed by the Senate. She joined the court on April 6, 1998.[1] Marvel was nominated by President Barack Obama (D) to a second fifteen-year term on July 30, 2013.[3] She assumed her office on December 3, 2014. She served as chief judge of the court from June 1, 2016, to May 31, 2018.[1] Marvel assumed senior status on December 6, 2019.[2] She was succeeded by Alina Marshall in 2020.
