Alfred Dickinson Barksdale (1892-1972) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.[1]

Barksdale received a recess appointment from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on December 19, 1939, to a seat vacated by Armistead Dobie; he was nominated on January 11, 1940, confirmed by the Senate on February 1, and received his commission on February 5. He assumed senior status on August 1, 1957, and served in that capacity until his death on August 16, 1972.[1] Barksdale was succeeded in this position by Roby Thompson.
