Donald Ivers
Donald Ivers was a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He joined the court on August 6, 1990, after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush (R). He retired in August 2005 and was recalled to senior status. He served on senior status until he fully retired in 2017.[1][2]
Education
Ivers earned his undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico after attending the New Mexico Military Institute. He earned his law degree at American University with graduate studies at Georgetown University.[1]
Military service
Ivers served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1968. He served in the Reserve and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, earning the following honors:
- Bronze Star
- Air Medal
- Meritorious Service Medal
- Army Commendation Medal
- Joint Services Achievement Medal.[1]

- 1990: Acting general counsel, Department of Veterans Affairs
- 1985-1990: General counsel, Veterans Administration
- 1984-1985: Counselor/chairman, Secretary of Transportation/Secretary's Safety Review Task Force
- 1981-1984: Chief counsel, Federal Highway Administration
- 1981: Chief counsel, Republican National Committee
- 1972-1978: Attorney, Brault, Graham, Scott, and Brault[1]

Ivers was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims by President George H.W. Bush (R) and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He joined the court on August 6, 1990. Ivers left the court in August 2005 and was recalled to senior status. He served on senior status until he officially retired in 2017.[1][2]
