Winfred George Knoch (1895-1983) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.[1]

Judicial career

Seventh Circuit

Knoch was nominated to the Seventh Circuit by President Dwight Eisenhower on August 16, 1958, to a seat vacated by Walter Lindley; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 19, 1958, and received his commission on August 21, 1958. He assumed senior status on December 4, 1967. He served the Seventh Circuit until his death on May 23, 1983.[1]

Northern District of Illinois

Knoch was nominated to the Northern District of Illinois by President Dwight Eisenhower on April 27, 1953, to a new seat created by 64 Stat. 443; he was confirmed by the Senate on May 13, 1953, and received his commission on May 14th. He served the Northern District of Illinois until he was elevated to the Seventh Circuit on September 14, 1958.[1] Knoch was succeeded in this position by Edwin Robson.
