Zita Weinshienk
Zita Weinshienk was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. She joined the court in 1979 after a nomination by President Jimmy Carter (D). Weinshienk assumed senior status on April 3, 1998. She retired from the court on March 31, 2011.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Minnesota, Weinshienk graduated from the University of Arizona with her bachelor's degree in 1955 and later graduated from Harvard Law School with her J.D. degree in 1958.[1]

- 1965-1971: Judge, Denver County Court
- 1964-1965: Judge, Denver Municipal Court
- 1959-1964: Probation Counselor, Legal Advisor and Referee for the Denver Juvenile Court[1]
Judicial career

On the recommendation of Senator Gary Hart, Weinshienk was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on June 1, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629 which was approved by Congress. Weinshienk was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 25, 1979, and received commission the next day. Weinshienk took senior status on April 3, 1998.[1] Weinshienk was succeeded in this position by Judge Robert Blackburn.
