William Matthew Kidd (1918-1998) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.[1]

Kidd was nominated to the Southern District of West Virginia by President Jimmy Carter on November 30, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629; he was confirmed by the Senate on December 20, 1979, and received commission the next day. He served the Southern District until January 14, 1983, at which time he was reassigned to the Northern District. He assumed senior status on January 15, 1990, and served the Northern District in that capacity until his death on December 20, 1998.[1] Kidd was succeeded in this position by Frederick Stamp.

Northern District of West Virginia

Kidd was reassigned January 14, 1983, to a new seat authorized by 96 Stat. 2601. He assumed senior status on January 15, 1990. His service was terminated on December 20, 1998, due to death.[1]
