Lee West
Lee Roy West was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. He joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter (D). West assumed senior status on November 26, 1994. His service ended on April 24, 2020, due to death. From 1993 to 1994, West served as the chief judge of the district court.
Early life and education
A native of Clayton, Oklahoma, West graduated from the University of Oklahoma with both his bachelor's degree in 1952 and his J.D. in 1956. In 1963, West earned his LL.M. from Harvard Law School.[1]
Military service
From 1952 to 1954, West served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He later served in the U.S Marine Corps Reserve from 1954 to 1956.[1]

Judicial career
Western District of Oklahoma
West was nominated by President Jimmy Carter (D) on September 28, 1979, to a new judgeship created by 92 Stat. 1629. West was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 31, 1979, and he received his commission on November 2, 1979. West served as the chief judge of the district court from 1993 to 1994. He elected to take senior status beginning on November 26, 1994. His service ended on April 24, 2020, when he died.[1] West was succeeded in this position by Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange.
