William Albert Norris was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He joined the court in 1980 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter and served until his retirement on October 24, 1997. Judge Norris died on January 21, 2017.[1][2]

Judicial career
Judge Norris was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by Jimmy Carter on February 27, 1980, to a seat vacated by Walter Raleigh Ely, Jr. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 18, 1980, and received his commission on June 18, 1980. Norris assumed senior status on July 7, 1994, and continued to serve in that capacity until his retirement on October 24, 1997. Judge Norris died on January 21, 2017.[1][2]
