John Francis Kilkenny was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Oregon and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.^[1] Kilkenny was succeeded in both positions by Alfred Goodwin.

He was in private practice in Pendleton, Oregon from 1926-1959.

Judicial nominations and appointments

District of Oregon

Kilkenny joined the United States District Court for the District of Oregon on July 30, 1959 after being nominated by President Dwight Eisenhower, filling the seat vacated by Claude McColloch.

Ninth Circuit

Kilkenny joined the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit on September 16, 1969 after being nominated in May 1969 by President Richard Nixon. The seat that Kilkenny took on the Ninth Circuit was a new seat created by 82 Stat. 184.^[1]
